 English
Receive input from both sight and sound using textbooks from the US and the UK

The necessary skills for using English freely can be obtained through the creation of an "English brain". At Corners, to enable natural English acquisition, our lessons do not include Japanese. We believe that the usual method of teaching English accompanied by Japanese translations at every turn is detrimental to a child's language-learning ability. Therefore, English ability is acquired by teaching children active communications skills, grammar, and vocabulary with textbooks, and pronunciation using original teaching materials, with the implementation of games.

 Math
Programming mindsets that are nurtured through English Math Education

In opposition to Japanese Math Education which centers around memorization and calculation. In the U.S., an emphasis is placed on the power to think, which in turn leads to problem-solving ability. Starting as early as 1½ years old, using songs and manipulatives, the concept of numbers is understood from an early age. Using methods such as American elementary math textbooks to solve word problems, puzzles and blocks to understand shapes, dice and pizza games to learn addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions, we aim to teach children to not only understand the essence and root of problems, but also be able to explain those answers in English.

 Social Studies
Social studies that simultaneously teach International Culture and English Skills

In this age where people are recognized and evaluated on a world stage, countries climates, culture, lifestyle, flag and geographical location are all important facts to know. At Corners, children can almost experience going to another country by watching videos, listening to teacher’s explanations, and using applications to learn about that country. Through stimulating classes, we encourage an international sense of interest in each country, a desire to visit, speak with, and get to know the people of that country.

 Science
Raising the future scientists of the world

Corners science classes handle a wide variety of subjects, from creatures in general, oceans, the universe, biology, plant cultivation, and scientific experiments at an Elementary 3rd-5th grade level equivalent. Through showing interest and experiencing progress, children grow to being able to express their scientific knowledge in English.

 Art / Craft
Arts and Crafts program fostering self-expression

The experience in childhood of expression, such as drawing a picture, or creating something, is an extremely important point in supporting spacial cognitive ability. Through creating something by touching various materials, imagining and then making it, children’s 5 main senses are stimulated, their dexterity and concentration are improved, horizons are broadened, and thinking power is nurtured. At Corners, crafts are designed around seasonal and traditional events, so children are able to feel the changing of the seasons.

Long courseIn-Depth Long-Day Course

The long-day course focuses primarily on comprehension, so that children can acquire attentive listening skills. It has been said that International School students have a hard time accurately listening to and responding to Japanese instructions. Corners places a high emphasis on Japanese culture and lifestyle habits, and through a balance between etiquette, self-affirmation, mental toughness, non-cognitive ability, and exercise, a deeper learning experience is achieved.

 Abacus
Cross-brain mental training for aptitude, fortitude, and creativity

The age of AI data analysis is in the near future. What will become essential is a mathematical ability to find relativitity and meaning from numbers. In other words, the ability to both the left and right side of the brain in balance becomes necessary. The abacus unites the computational left-brain together with the image-controlling right-brain to move the beads inside the mind for mental arithmetic calculation. This results in balanced stimulation of both hemispheres. In addition, the abacus requires endurance, so as the calculations are made unconsciously, concentration and patience are naturally acquired. Corners aims for the mindset of seeing something through to completion without giving up, which is built upon self-affirmation and experiences of success. In other words, through attaining goals in speed or accuracy, clear short-steps are achieved, which is the essence of Corner’s abacus class. This self-affirmation has a synergistic effect with the short course experience-based study, and leads children to further growth and development.

 Music
Corners offers a specialized rhythmic class taught by a music professional.

Both expressiveness to consider things in order, and concentration in the 5 senses such as sight, hearing, and touch can be mastered. Through development of comprehensive concentration with rhythmic classes from an early age, many skills in a child’s developmental process can be nurtured. Agility and speed of immediate reactions, concentration and attention to listen attentively to music, proactivity and creativity to express oneself, social skills, aspiration and inquisitiveness that buds from group activity, are only a few of the merits that rhythmic classes have. There are sounds that exist in English that do not in Japanese. Through nurturing musicality it goes without saying that English phrases become easier to comprehend, and there are other benefits such as improvement in IQ, memory, and calculation skills. The education that is received here becomes an unshakable strength not only when reading and expressing the answers in future elementary classes, but also when thinking and expression of learned material are questioned. At Corners an educational environment conducive to nurturing future strengths is provided so that children can learn while having fun.

 Gymnastics
Nurturing healthy bodies and minds through exercise

Researchers in the US have reported on cases regarding the correlation between exercise and cognitive development in children. Through principles of optimal cranial nerve root development, it is said that by means of the development of fast reflexes and accurate decision-making, not only are basic athletic abilities such as balance and flexibility improved, but problem-solving ability, leadership, and calculation skills are improved as well. At Corners, professionals familiar with child development provide instruction focused on the development of neural pathways of the brain and physical development. Because it is an effective curriculum not only for the improvement of physical strength and athletic ability, but also for nervous system development, it is exceptionally effective for the balanced growth of the body, mind and heart. Also, from the hope that through sports they will grow into children who are not afraid of challenges, we will nurture not only their physical strength, athletic ability and exercise technique, but also their social and cooperative skills.

 Japanese/Examination Preparation/Group behavior observation program
To increase knowledge and culture of the English language, students will learn manners/etiquette/social skills in Japanese class.

While taking in to account the developmental stage of the students, and without packing too much into one sitting, licensed childcare workers provide instruction to help students learn the “power of thinking." 1The positive benefits for children may include, but are not limited to: An attitude of perseverance while acquiring concentration skills. 2Through instruction that encourages the process of constructing an answer, the ability to think is nurtured.3Improvement of behavior, lifestyle habits, and growth in emotional development. In other words, non-cognitive ability is fostered and the emotional stability that becomes the foundation of their unique personality is developed. The non-cognitive ability that will be valued in the future are the personality traits such as: motivation, cooperation, patience, perseverance, self-affirmation, organization, responsibility, problem-solving - which cannot be measured numerically. These are the skills that are nurtured during childhood that will become necessary for the future. At Corners, licensed professionals provide first-class instruction tailored to each individual student.
